WHATNESS

CATALOGUE DESIGN + VISUAL IDENTIY

May 14, 2015

The exhibition title “Whatness” emphasizes the shared aspect in the work of two young sculptors, Esther Kläs and Johannes Wald. Their sculptures reflect the way sculpture emerges, the production process, but also the discrepancy between idea and realisation of a sculpture. Thus, book and exhibition tie in with the steady expansion of the concept of sculpture beginning in the 1960s.

strobo was invited to run a workshop on the topic of manifestos at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) / Institute of Architectural Space and Design, chair Prof. Marc Frohn. Our approach on the topic of manifestos was to stress its condition of coexisting different views, resulting necessarily in a movement than a static response.

GERMAN DESIGN AWARD

WINNER 2015

Oct 27, 2014

We are honored to receive the German Design Award 2015, announced by the German Design Council. Established on the initiative of the German Bundestag as a foundation in 1953, the German Design Council supports both culture and industry in all matters consistently aimed at generating values through design. Its establishment was prompted by the strong criticism of the German product presentation from the postwar period to New York Export Fair 1949: According to the request of the SPD parliamentary group the German Bundestag decided to have found an independent Council for form development.  As formulated by the founding mission of the German Bundestag, the Founders Assembly provides a platform for the communication of all forces involved in the design process.

To Open Eyes
Kunsthalle Bielefeld

Graphic Identity

Nov 17, 2013

To Open Eyes – Art and Textiles from the Bauhaus to today. In anticipation of Bielefeld’s 800th anniversary as home to the linen weaving industry, the Kunsthalle will present an exhibition about textiles in art. By the Bauhaus period, at the latest, textile works of art had long lost their status as a mere handicraft.  In the 20th and 21st centuries, the spectrum of artistic approaches to textiles ranges from the study of ornamental, non-European art to explorations of color, to the questioning of material qualities, and the ironic or critical handling of fabric and weaving.

We designed all printed matter to be in use in communicating the exhibition.
