Paolo Nestler
Ein Hauch Italien in der deutschen Nachkriegsarchitektur
Edition DETAIL, Gabriella Cianciolo Cosentino, Sandra Hofmeister
2024
The architect, who grew up in Italy, designed lively interiors such as those of the first ice cream parlors and colorful subway stations in Munich. In addition to spectacular exhibition architecture, large residential complexes, and bank buildings, Nestler's office also created exclusive representative rooms, such as those for the United Nations in New York. In 1949, the architect opened his own office in Munich. This monograph paints a comprehensive picture of Nestler's diverse work for the first time and provides insights into his estate. In addition to many previously unpublished sources, the book also showcases numerous projects that no longer exist today. It contributes to the rediscovery of Nestler as an important protagonist of post-war German architecture.
